Feng Chia University Mainland China Alumni Association Annual Gathering Draws Nearly 400 Alumni in Shanghai to Celebrate the Spirit of “Co-Goodness”

The Feng Chia University Mainland China Alumni Association held its annual gathering on January 18 at Le Méridien Shanghai Minhang. Centered on the theme “United in Shanghai, Building a Co-Good Future Through Loyalty, Diligence, Integrity, and Sincerity,” the event featured 36 banquet tables and brought together alumni from Shanghai, Jiangsu, South China, Sichuan-Chongqing, Fujian, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan. Together with representatives from their alma mater and distinguished guests, nearly 400 members of the Feng Chia family gathered to celebrate. The event showcased the strong cohesion of Feng Chia alumni worldwide and demonstrated how the University’s spirit of “Co-Goodness” continues to flourish and be passed on across borders.

University Representatives Attend and Emphasize the Boundless Nature of Education

Cheng-Shu Kao, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Feng Chia University, traveled to Shanghai with Shih-Ting Yang, Director of the Alumni Office, Executive Assistant to the Board Hsin-Yi Chou, Alumni Office Secretary Hsin Wang, and staff member Chia-Hui Liao.

In his remarks, Chairman Kao reflected on the university’s more than 60-year history through a video of the school anthem, noting that Feng Chia had progressed “from black and white to color,” a transformation made possible through the efforts of countless individuals. He expressed special gratitude to founding alumni leaders, including Chao-Chi Lin and alumnus Ti-Hsin Chen, recalling how gatherings that began more than 30 years ago in front of Jing’an Temple have evolved into today’s vibrant alumni network that connects generations of Feng Chia members.

Chairman Kao also shared encouraging news from the University. For Academic Year 2025–2026, Feng Chia University achieved an overall freshman enrollment rate of 98.71%, ranking first among Taiwan’s private comprehensive universities. He described this achievement as a source of confidence without complacency.

He further highlighted the completion of Virtuosi Hall (Gongshan Hall) on February 16, 2025, which was built to provide students with enhanced learning spaces and symbolizes the belief that “everyone is equal before education.” He emphasized that while politics may face barriers, education knows no boundaries, encouraging alumni to continue fostering goodwill and upholding the spirit of nurturing future generations.

Alumni Association Transformation Focuses on Empowerment and Alumni-First Services

In his annual report, Hung-Lin Huang, President of the Mainland China Alumni Association, noted that the organization is gradually transforming into an empowerment-oriented alumni network.

Reviewing activities in 2025, Huang highlighted several achievements. Alumni representatives returned to Feng Chia University in February to attend the inauguration of Virtuosi Hall, and on April 12, the Fujian Chapter was officially established, extending the organization’s service network along China’s southeastern coast.

The association also actively pursued practical benefits for alumni through spring and autumn outings, healthcare discounts provided through partnerships with Shanghai Hexin Hospital, tuition support initiatives for students at Shanghai Taiwanese Children’s School, and the organization of 12 professional lectures. These efforts were guided by the principle of “Alumni First” and aimed to create additional value for alumni throughout their careers.

Looking ahead to 2026, Huang announced plans to establish a Central China Chapter and organize a Hainan Free Trade Port Study Delegation in March to help alumni explore emerging economic opportunities. He also plans to invite former Mainland Chinese students of Feng Chia University to return to Taiwan for the University’s 65th Anniversary Celebration, further strengthening cross-strait alumni connections.

Strengthening Alumni Bonds and Showcasing Feng Chia Pride

Representing Alumni Association President Ming-Ho Lee, Honorary Vice President Yu-Hsien Lu delivered greetings to attendees and spoke on the theme of “Passing on the Spirit of Co-Goodness.” She thanked senior alumni whose efforts laid the foundation for the association’s growth and enabled friendships and support networks to continue across generations.

At the welcome reception held prior to the annual gathering, representatives from alumni chapters throughout Taiwan and various regions of Mainland China exchanged ideas and experiences in the historic town of Qibao. The venue resonated with enthusiastic chants of “I am Feng Chia, and I am proud!”, vividly demonstrating the passion and unity shared by Feng Chia alumni.

This annual gathering was more than a reunion; it was a powerful demonstration of collective strength. Through distinguished alumni recognition, professional forums, and forward-looking initiatives, the Feng Chia University Mainland China Alumni Association continues to put the University motto of “Loyalty, Diligence, Integrity, and Sincerity” into practice. By doing so, it allows the spirit of Co-Goodness to illuminate the path forward for every member of the Feng Chia community.
