As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to advance rapidly, semiconductor and memory technologies have become critical drivers of intelligent computing and industrial transformation. Recently, Feng Chia University hosted a keynote lecture titled “When AI Transforms the World: How Memory Becomes the Key—From Memory Innovation to Future Career Possibilities.”
The event featured Zhong, Lian Bin, Vice President of Micron’s Front-End Wafer Manufacturing and Operations in Taiwan, who was invited to deliver the keynote address. Through his lecture, he provided faculty members and students with an in-depth understanding of the evolving role of memory technologies in the AI era, while also offering a global perspective on industry talent demands and essential competency development. In his remarks, Zhong, Lian Bin emphasized that the rapid advancement of AI technologies has significantly increased the demand for higher bandwidth and larger memory capacity. As a result, memory and storage technologies are becoming central to AI computing and data processing. He also introduced Micron’s memory and storage innovations and highlighted Taiwan’s strategic role in Micron’s global manufacturing and research and development network.
Furthermore, he encouraged students to cultivate lifelong learning habits, interdisciplinary collaboration skills, effective communication, and structured critical thinking—competencies that are essential for navigating the rapidly evolving AI and semiconductor landscape.

Nearly 400 faculty members and students gathered at the Shengri Hall of Gongshan Building to explore emerging opportunities brought about by AI and memory innovation.

Zhong, Lian Bin, Vice President of Micron Taiwan, provided in-depth insights into the critical role of memory technologies in the AI era. He also shared Micron’s initiatives in talent development, internships, and campus collaboration, encouraging students interested in the semiconductor industry to continue learning and exploring related fields.
Feng Chia University has long prioritized strong linkages with industry and continues to deepen its collaboration with Micron Taiwan. Through the facilitation of the Industry-Academic Management and Extension Center, the two parties have jointly implemented a number of professional talent development initiatives. These include the Semiconductor Production and Equipment Engineering Training Program, organized in collaboration with the Taichung City Government Labor Affairs Bureau and the Ministry of Labor, which aims to cultivate industry-ready professionals.
In addition, Micron-commissioned workshops have been conducted to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice. Through hands-on courses such as “Co-creating the Future: A New Chapter in the Workplace,” students are able to better align their academic knowledge with real-world applications. The University also supports internship and mentorship programs that place students within Micron’s operational environment, where they gain practical experience under the guidance of industry professionals, thereby strengthening the foundation of collaborative talent cultivation.
To further advance semiconductor education and talent development, the iSchool at Feng Chia University has officially launched the “Memory Manufacturing Micro-Program.” The program primarily targets students in information and communication, engineering, manufacturing, and natural sciences. By integrating academic coursework with industry practices, it enables students to develop a comprehensive understanding of semiconductor and memory technologies and their applications.
The curriculum has been jointly designed by faculty members and senior industry professionals from Micron Taiwan, ensuring alignment with global industry trends. In addition to strengthening students’ professional competencies, the program lays a solid foundation for future careers in semiconductor and memory-related industries.
The lecture attracted an enthusiastic response, with nearly 400 faculty members and students in attendance. Through the sharing of industry insights by senior executives and the promotion of the micro-program, Feng Chia University demonstrated its proactive commitment to responding to developments in AI and the semiconductor industry, enhancing students’ career competitiveness, and cultivating the next generation of technology professionals.

An interactive exhibition area for the micro-program and career development was set up alongside the lecture, providing students with information on semiconductor industry roles, job opportunities, and potential career pathways.
