On March 15, 2024, Prof. Griffiths, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at The University of Queensland (UQ), and Mr. Michael Chen, UQ Greater China Regional Manager, visited Feng Chia University once again following their trip in June 2023. Together with Dean Sheng‑Tung Chen of the College of Finance, they signed the dual‑degree master’s program agreement and held an information session. In addition, a meeting was arranged with students enrolled in the UQ–FCU 2+2 Bachelor’s Program in Business under the International School of Technology and Management (ISTM).

During the opening remarks, Vice-President Shwu‑Ting Lee expressed gratitude for UQ’s visit. Following the establishment of the undergraduate dual‑degree program at ISTM, this new dual‑degree master’s program marks another milestone in international collaboration between the two institutions. She emphasized that the program will not only elevate postgraduate education but also broaden students’ global perspectives.
Chairperson Cheng‑Shu Kao praised The University of Queensland as a leading institution in global university rankings, noting that students studying there will benefit from both international exposure and abundant academic resources. He also shared that the university is planning a return visit to UQ in May, affirming the commitment not only to student learning but also to deepening institutional cooperation and mutual exchange.
Prof. Griffiths expressed his pleasure in revisiting the beautiful FCU campus. He noted that like Feng Chia University, UQ places strong emphasis not only on professional knowledge but also on holistic development. Through this collaboration, students from both universities will be better prepared to go further in their academic and career journeys.

To further strengthen internationalization, enhance student mobility, and enrich academic training, the dual‑degree master’s program between the College of Finance and The University of Queensland was finalized in late December 2023 after six months of communication and coordination. The program links FCU’s Master’s Program of Finance and Master’s Program of Risk Management and Insurance with UQ’s Master of International Economics and Finance. UQ recognizes four FCU courses, and students will only need to complete one year of study at UQ, taking eight courses (four per semester). Students meeting graduation requirements of both institutions will be awarded dual master’s degrees. In addition, participating students will receive an exclusive 25% tuition fee reduction during their studies at UQ.
Dean Sheng‑Tung Chen highlighted that UQ ranks 43rd in the 2024 QS World University Rankings and 70th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, making it a globally top‑tier university. He added that this partnership will significantly enhance the academic reputation and enrollment competitiveness of the College of Finance. One student from the Master’s Program of Finance is expected to begin studies at UQ in July, and the college will provide full support to ensure a smooth transition. This student will serve as the first “seed participant,” helping to pave the way for future cohorts.
On the day of the signing, an information session was held, where Mr. Michael Chen engaged with students directly, introducing UQ, the program structure, and details of studying and living in Australia. Students responded enthusiastically, expressing that the opportunity for face‑to‑face dialogue helped them gain clearer insight into realizing their dreams of studying in Australia.
