Feng Chia University celebrates its 62nd anniversary this year. With “Together” as the theme, the occasion honors the countless predecessors who weathered challenges side by side, as well as the dedication and perseverance of all faculty and staff who have shaped the university into what it is today. Over the past 62 years, the university has marched forward hand in hand, achieving remarkable milestones. Looking toward the future, Feng Chia sets its sights on becoming a century‑strong institution. The anniversary celebration ceremony was held solemnly on November 12. The most exciting news that morning for everyone at Feng Chia University was the successful launch of the university’s research rocket. Watching the rocket soar into the sky elevated the spirits of all Feng Chia members, filling them with pride and joy for their alma mater.
In response to such uplifting achievements, Chairperson Cheng‑Shu Kao delivered special remarks during the anniversary ceremony to express appreciation to Distinguished Professor Chun‑Liang Yeh, thanking him for leading the faculty‑student research team in accomplishing this extraordinary mission. Beyond excitement, the moment profoundly embodied the Feng Chia Spirit—faculty members, like great fish in the vast ocean, guiding students, the smaller fish, to swim forward with strength and determination. This successful advance in aerospace research marks a new milestone for Feng Chia University and contributes to developing future talents for the nation.

President Wei Wang expressed both gratitude and pride as she acknowledged the many remarkable achievements earned by the university and its faculty and students over the past year. Celebrating today’s successful rocket launch, President Wang also extended her appreciation to former President Li, whose strong support during his tenure was crucial in establishing the Master’s Program in Space System Engineering—a key milestone that enabled Feng Chia University to secure substantial funding and advance into the field of space research.
Looking ahead, President Wang emphasized that although the future may be filled with challenges, risks, and uncertainties, it is equally a time of great opportunities. She encouraged all members of Feng Chia University to continue working together with determination, cooperation, and unity as they move forward toward a shared and better future.

Deputy Mayor Yu‑Min Wang, attending the ceremony on behalf of Taichung City Mayor Shiou‑Yen Lu, expressed her excitement over Feng Chia University’s uplifting news of a successful rocket launch on the very day of its anniversary celebration. She remarked that this achievement is a source of pride not only for the Feng Chia community but also for all citizens of Taichung. She further acknowledged Feng Chia University’s long‑standing dedication to cultivating outstanding talent, noting that many faculty members and alumni have served within the Taichung City Government, contributing significantly to the city’s development. With more than six decades of history, Feng Chia continues to pursue innovation in both educational理念 and academic practice. Deputy Mayor Wang expressed her confidence that, under visionary and forward‑looking leadership, the university will undoubtedly evolve into an even more distinguished century‑old institution recognized globally.

During this year’s anniversary celebration, Feng Chia University presented the Outstanding Teaching Award, Distinguished Teaching Award, Outstanding Advisor Award for Academic Year 2022–23, as well as awards for Outstanding Staff and Long‑Serving Faculty and Staff. Among the honorees, Professor Shiow‑Linn Lee of the Department of Chinese Literature, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, received the Outstanding Advisor Award for the third time, earning the recognition as one of the university’s Lifetime Outstanding Advisors.
Professor Lee has served as the advisor for the freshman class in Chinese Literature for four consecutive years, upholding her principles of care, dedication, and patience as she guides students to bravely face challenges, pursue self‑worth, and work toward their dreams. Actively participating in all class activities, she has fully embodied the role of a bridge between students and the university, earning deep trust and heartfelt appreciation from her students.
