To foster friendship among Feng Chia University's international students and share in the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year season, the Office of International Affairs hosted the "2026 Feng Chia University International Students Lunar New Year Banquet" on March 27 at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel Taichung. The event brought together 440 students and faculty from more than 30 countries and regions around the world, filling the venue with warmth and laughter that transcended borders.

The banquet was attended by President Vey Wang, Dean of Academic Affairs Chien-Yie Tsay, Dean of International Affairs Pei Liu, Chief Librarian Wen-Hsiang Lai, Dean of the College of Construction and Development Jau-Ming Su, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Science Chien-Hung Yeh, Director of the Chinese Language Center Ching-Wei Ho, and Director of the University-Wide Bachelor's Program for First-Year International Students Hui-Ling Wang, as well as special guest Specialist Mei-Tzu Li from the Division of Overseas Chinese Students, Overseas Community Affairs Council, and international faculty members from the United Kingdom, India, Malaysia, and Vietnam. On this particular evening, faculty and administrators stepped down from the podium to chat casually with students and share everyday moments—an experience that vividly captured Feng Chia's internationalized yet warmly personal campus culture.

At the 2026 Feng Chia University International Students Lunar New Year Banquet, faculty, distinguished guests, and international students gathered together for a warm and memorable evening.

The banquet was emceed by Ze-Rui Li from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Hsiu-Ling Chen from Indonesia. The two hosts effortlessly alternated between Chinese and English with remarkable chemistry and humor, instantly energizing the entire crowd. The event opened with lion dance and ensemble dance performances by students from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan, infusing the evening with abundant Lunar New Year festivity.

In her remarks, President Vey Wang expressed heartfelt wishes that students would not only gain knowledge throughout their time at Feng Chia University, but also build understanding and friendships through multicultural interaction—and feel the warmth of a place that feels like home. Overseas Community Affairs Council Specialist Mei-Tzu Li shared information on the Council's diverse job placement and internship matching programs, encouraging overseas and international students to remain in Taiwan after graduation. She also generously sponsored an 11-inch iPad Air as the grand prize in the evening's lucky draw, sending excitement through the room.

Throughout the banquet, international students and members of the Guitar Club took turns performing, presenting singing, dancing, and musical acts that showcased students' diverse talents and energy. Multiple rounds of lucky draws were woven throughout the evening, generating a continuous stream of surprises; a Kahoot quiz competition with prizes was also arranged, heightening interactivity and engagement to tremendous effect. Faculty and students shared a delightful meal together amid laughter and applause, exchanging cultural experiences and personal stories.

Dean of International Affairs Pei Liu reflected on the motivation behind the annual banquet: to ensure that every international student who has traveled far to study at Feng Chia feels the warmth of home. Through this lively gathering, the event not only helps ease students' homesickness, but also provides a platform for connection beyond national boundaries—a space where students of diverse backgrounds can understand one another and grow together.
