Feng Chia University’s Sun Yun-Suan Lecture Series has entered its second year, inviting experts from academia, government, and industry each semester to share valuable practical experience with faculty members and students.

Professor Maw Tze-Chung focused his lectures on strategic thinking and management philosophy. Drawing upon the concept of the relationship between cause, conditions, and outcomes, as well as modern interpretations of The Art of War, he explained the dynamic interaction among decision-making, environmental factors, execution, and results. He proposed that organizations should be viewed as self-organizing systems, emphasizing that leaders must understand environmental changes and systemic trends in order to enhance governance effectiveness through the principle of “leveraging momentum rather than force.” His insights provided students with valuable analytical frameworks for navigating uncertainty and complexity.

Professor Chang Chia-Juch approached the topic from the perspectives of organizational leadership and corporate governance. Through two keynote lectures, he explored essential governance principles. Discussing leadership, he highlighted five core qualities—integrity, inclusiveness, discipline, talent utilization, and observation—as key attributes for effective leaders. In the area of governance, he drew on his extensive experience in both the public and private sectors to explain corporate law, governance structures, the division of responsibilities between boards of directors and management teams, and the importance of independent directors. He also stressed that while businesses pursue profitability, they must simultaneously fulfill their social responsibilities.
