The Department of International Business at Feng Chia University achieved an impressive result in its first-ever participation in the 2026 Central Taiwan College Management Case Competition. Led by Assistant Professor Chieh-Sheng Lin, a team of students ranging from sophomores to seniors—Kai-Ting Lai, Tzu-Chen Lin, Wei-Chi Huang, Yu-Chen Lin, Chien-Ching Su, Ping-Feng Chou, and Ting-Wei Tsai—competed at Tunghai University on May 2 and earned second place in the team competition.
Among the five students who participated in the final round, four received individual awards, the highest number among all participating teams. Their achievement showcased the department’s strengths in case analysis, teamwork, presentation skills, and on-the-spot defense.
The Central Taiwan College Management Case Competition, established in 2003, is a prominent intercollegiate event for management-related disciplines. Centered on real-world business case analysis, the competition requires participants to apply management theories to practical situations through team discussion, strategic planning, presentations, and Q&A sessions. Teams must analyze cases and prepare solutions within a limited timeframe while responding to questions from judges and competing teams, making the event a rigorous test of analytical thinking, communication skills, adaptability, and resilience.

In the individual award categories:

With four award winners among the five student presenters, the team demonstrated exceptional overall performance and versatility in communication, analysis, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Yu-Chen Lin, recipient of the Best Business Professional Award, described the competition as a complete “system upgrade” for both her skills and mindset. She recalled that during the early stages of training, presentations often consisted of little more than a brief conclusion. After intensive preparation, however, she was able to deliver a confident and well-structured presentation in the competition, significantly improving her analytical and communication abilities.
Chien-Ching Su and Tzu-Chen Lin both noted that the competition prohibited the use of AI tools and internet searches. This experience helped them recognize that, in many real business situations involving confidential information, professionals cannot rely on external tools. Instead, quick thinking, logical reasoning, and effective teamwork remain essential competencies that cannot be replaced by AI.
Team member Ping-Feng Chou expressed gratitude to Assistant Professor Chieh-Sheng Lin for providing practical analytical frameworks and constructive feedback. He emphasized that beyond applying management theories, success depended on the team's ability to build consensus and solve problems efficiently through mutual trust and collaboration.
The Department of International Business noted that this achievement reflects not only the students’ dedication and teamwork but also the department’s longstanding commitment to practical learning, interdisciplinary thinking, and the cultivation of internationally minded business professionals. The department will continue encouraging students to participate in professional competitions and intercollegiate exchanges, helping them develop the analytical, communication, and decision-making skills needed to address real-world business challenges.

In its first participation in the 2026 Central Taiwan College Management Case Competition, the Department of International Business at Feng Chia University earned the team runner-up award and four individual awards, demonstrating outstanding performance and earning high praise from the judges.
