At the 56th National Skills Competition – Central Taiwan Regional Competition, organized by the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor and held at Overseas Chinese University on March 26–27, Chih-Hsin Chen from the Department of Information Engineering at Feng Chia University distinguished herself in the Cloud Computing category and won second place, earning a place in the National Skills Competition to be held this July.

Another FCU student, Yao-Hung Lai, also delivered an outstanding performance and received a Merit Award.

Notably, since the 49th National Skills Competition, Feng Chia University has continuously sent talented students to compete in national cloud computing-related events. This year marks the seventh consecutive year that FCU students have earned awards in cloud computing competitions, reflecting both the students’ technical excellence and the University’s long-term commitment to cloud computing education and skills training.

Chih-Hsin Chen, a student in the Department of Information Engineering at Feng Chia University, won second place in the Cloud Computing category at the 56th National Skills Competition – Central Taiwan Regional Competition, securing a place in the National Skills Competition.

Behind the achievements of both students is an important mentor: Professor Ju-Chuan Wu from the Department of Business Administration. Both students previously enrolled in her Cloud Computing and Services course, where they developed a solid foundation in on-premises and cloud architecture concepts. Through years of practice, guided learning, and extensive hands-on experience, they successfully transformed classroom knowledge into real-world technical competence.

Preparing for the national finals, Chih-Hsin Chen reflected that her introduction to cloud technologies began two years ago through Professor Wu’s course.

“The concepts of on-premises and cloud architectures that I learned in class became the foundation for everything I studied afterward. I am grateful to Professor Wu for providing such a supportive learning environment and abundant resources, which gave me opportunities to practice repeatedly. Being able to apply the knowledge planted two years ago in this competition and remain calm under pressure has been my greatest achievement.”

Yao-Hung Lai, who received the Merit Award, shared a similar perspective.

“For me, this competition was more than a contest—it was an opportunity to truly apply what I had learned. Being able to perform steadily and confidently under competition conditions, while building on knowledge acquired two years ago, made the experience especially rewarding.”

FCU has long promoted education in information technology and cloud computing. In recent years, the University has further strengthened talent development through its Cloud Innovation Academy, offering advanced cloud computing courses and elite-level training programs. By encouraging students to participate in major skills competitions, FCU enables them to sharpen their capabilities through practical experience and competitive challenges.

The University will continue investing in talent cultivation and looks forward to Chih-Hsin Chen achieving outstanding results at the National Skills Competition this July.
