Representatives from Feng Chia University’s Karate Club, Taekwondo Club, and Jiao-Long Judo Club competed at the 2026 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games, demonstrating the results of their rigorous training against top student-athletes from universities across Taiwan. Collectively, FCU athletes earned one gold medal, one silver medal, two bronze medals, and several top-eight finishes.
The Jiao-Long Judo Club delivered an outstanding performance. Chia-Ying Liao, a first-year student in the Department of Finance, captured the championship title in the sixth women’s weight class of the general division, securing FCU’s only gold medal of the Games. Exchange student Wilson also earned a bronze medal in the third men’s weight class of the general division.

The Jiao-Long Judo Club won one gold and one bronze medal at the 2026 National Intercollegiate Athletic Games, bringing home FCU’s only gold medal of the competition.
Members of the Taekwondo Club also achieved impressive results. Yan-Yun Chen, a first-year master's student in the Department of Chemical Engineering, won the silver medal in the women’s 67 kg sparring division. Pei-Ting Cheng, a first-year student in the Bachelor's Program of Business Administration for Continuing Education, earned bronze in the women’s 73 kg sparring division. In addition, Yu-Chen Lin and Hsiu-Lien Hsu placed seventh in the women’s 62 kg and 49 kg sparring categories, respectively.

The Karate Club likewise delivered strong performances. Wei-Chen Chien, a third-year student in the Department of Accounting, finished fifth in the first men's kumite weight division, while Wei-Che Chang, a first-year student in the Department of Public Finance and Taxation, earned fifth place in the men’s individual kata event, demonstrating solid technical skills and competitive composure.

According to Tse-Yi Lin, president of the Jiao-Long Judo Club, the achievement of earning one gold and one bronze medal reflects not only the dedication of individual athletes but also the commitment and mutual support of club members throughout their training journey. Balancing academics and athletic preparation required athletes to overcome physical, technical, and mental challenges, making the moment of standing on the podium especially meaningful. He noted that the results serve as both recognition of the club’s hard work and motivation for future growth.
Karate Club president Wei-Chen Chien shared that athletes devoted themselves fully to training before the competition, supporting one another technically while maintaining strict discipline in weight management. The preparation process also strengthened team cohesion. He expressed hope that more students interested in karate will join the club and experience the values and excitement of the sport.
Feng Chia University has long encouraged students to participate in extracurricular activities and athletic competitions as a way to develop professional skills, teamwork, and perseverance. The success of its martial arts clubs at the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games reflects the effectiveness of their year-round training efforts. The University stated that it will continue supporting students in pursuing excellence on larger competitive stages and showcasing the strength of FCU student-athletes.
