The Tainan Feng Chia University Alumni Association held its 11th Second General Assembly and 50th Anniversary Celebration on August 15 at the Dong Dong Banquet Hall in Tainan. Vey Wang, President of Feng Chia University, attended the event in person, joining Ming-Ho Lee, President of the Feng Chia University Alumni Association; Long-Fu Huang, President of the Tainan Feng Chia University Alumni Association; former association presidents; and alumni representatives from across Taiwan to celebrate this important milestone marking half a century of alumni engagement.
With approximately 60 banquet tables filled, alumni from multiple generations gathered to reconnect and exchange experiences, demonstrating the enduring bonds and shared spirit that unite the Feng Chia University community across regions and generations.
Vey Wang, President of Feng Chia University, joined nearly 600 alumni from across Taiwan in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Tainan Feng Chia University Alumni Association, commemorating five decades of alumni dedication and the enduring Feng Chia spirit passed down through generations.
The Tainan Feng Chia University Alumni Association was established on August 22, 1976, with alumna Yu-Yun Huang (Class of International Trade, 1968) serving as its founding president. Over the past 50 years, successive presidents and executive committee members have devoted themselves to strengthening alumni connections, public service initiatives, and engagement with their alma mater, fostering a strong sense of belonging among alumni throughout the Greater Tainan area. In recent years, the Association has actively promoted youth alumni participation and intergenerational succession. Long-Fu Huang (Class of Business Administration, 1982), who assumed the presidency in 2023 and was re-elected in 2025, has continued to deepen ties with the University and alumni organizations both in Taiwan and abroad.
To commemorate its half-century journey, the Association premiered a special 50th-anniversary video highlighting the dedication and contributions of past presidents and alumni leaders. Former presidents were also invited to jointly cut the anniversary cake, symbolizing the passing of the torch from one generation to the next. Alumni association representatives from across Taiwan gathered in Tainan for the celebration, demonstrating the unity and strength of the Feng Chia alumni network nationwide.
Another highlight of the event was the celebration of the 80th birthday of Chao-Ming Liu (Class of Hydraulic Engineering, 1970), Honorary President of the Feng Chia University Alumni Association. A longtime contributor to alumni affairs, Liu organized the first Feng Chia Alumni World Carnival in Brisbane, Australia, in 2008, helping expand the University’s global alumni network. During the celebration, President Vey Wang joined fellow alumni in offering birthday wishes. In addition, Chao-Ming Liu and Shun-Sheng Wu, Honorary Vice President of the Alumni Association, made donations to support future alumni activities and intergenerational development initiatives.
A special birthday celebration was held during the event to honor Chao-Ming Liu, Honorary President of the Feng Chia University Alumni Association, in recognition of his many years of dedication to alumni affairs.
President Vey Wang remarked that the University and its alumni have always been each other’s most important partners. She noted that the 50-year journey of the Tainan Feng Chia University Alumni Association reflects not only the growth of the organization itself, but also generations of Feng Chia alumni supporting one another, giving back to their alma mater, and passing on enduring friendships. She added that both the Association’s 50th anniversary and Feng Chia University’s upcoming 65th anniversary are milestones made possible by the collective efforts of alumni across generations. Looking ahead, the University will continue to strengthen its connection with its global network of 240,000 alumni, ensuring that the Feng Chia spirit and alumni bonds continue to thrive across generations
