The "2026 EUR-ACE Connect," a premier global forum on engineering education, was held in Istanbul on June 4–5, bringing together engineering education experts, higher education leaders, and accreditation agency representatives from Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East to explore quality assurance in engineering education, the evolution of international accreditation, and trends in talent development. Dean Tsu-Wang Shen of Feng Chia University's College of Information and Electrical Engineering attended the conference on behalf of the University, sharing practical experiences in advancing Outcome-Based Education and pursuing international accreditation, while actively expanding the University's global collaborative network.

The Department of Automatic Control Engineering, the Department of Communications Engineering, and the Department of Electronic Engineering of Feng Chia University's College of Information and Electrical Engineering have formally been awarded the EUR-ACE® Label. In 2024, an international evaluation team from ENAEE conducted an on-site review of the three departments in Taiwan. Through the joint review mechanism established by IEET and ENAEE, all three departments successfully achieved accreditation and were officially registered in ENAEE's global accreditation database. They are among the earliest engineering departments in Taiwan to obtain this distinction, demonstrating that the quality of engineering education at Feng Chia University is now fully aligned with European standards.

The European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE), established more than two decades ago, is one of the most prominent and influential engineering education accreditation organizations in the world, currently encompassing 61 countries and over 5,000 programs awarded the EUR-ACE® quality label. The EUR-ACE® accreditation operates on an "Equal Validity" principle, meaning that regardless of which ENAEE-authorized agency conducts the accreditation, the outcome carries identical international recognition. Upon achieving accreditation, students' enrolled programs are assured of international quality in engineering education, facilitating overseas graduate study, cross-border employment, and applications for international professional qualifications.

During the conference, Dean Tsu-Wang Shen engaged with representatives from higher education institutions in the United States, Spain, Colombia, Croatia, Ecuador, and Kazakhstan, and established preliminary cooperative ties with eight institutions for potential dual-degree arrangements. These include prospective international study pathways such as the "3+1+1 Bachelor's-to-Master's Articulation Program" and the "1+1 Dual Master's Degree Program." Through systematic dual-degree planning, students will have greater opportunities to pursue coursework abroad, engage in transnational research, or earn degrees from both institutions, thereby enhancing their global career competitiveness and cross-cultural communication capabilities.

The 2026 EUR-ACE Connect conference also focused on the new challenges that artificial intelligence (AI) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) present to engineering education. Participating experts noted that while AI possesses formidable capabilities in information processing and knowledge integration, areas such as reflective thinking, strategic thinking, ethical judgment, and social responsibility still require the guidance and decision-making of qualified human professionals.

Feng Chia University has long been committed to Outcome-Based Education (OBE), cultivating students with professional competencies, innovative capacities, technological ethics, and sustainability-oriented thinking through curriculum mapping, capstone projects, industry-academia collaboration, and PDCA continuous improvement mechanisms—preparing graduates to meet the evolving demands of global industry and society.

Dean Tsu-Wang Shen remarked: "The EUR-ACE® accreditation represents more than an international quality assurance credential—it embodies a mechanism for continuous educational advancement. The true value of accreditation lies not merely in obtaining the label, but in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and pursuit of excellence. Through international accreditation, transnational collaboration, and Outcome-Based Education, we aspire to cultivate a new generation of engineering professionals equipped with specialized expertise, innovative thinking, and a global perspective."

Participation in the 2026 EUR-ACE Connect not only elevated the visibility of Feng Chia University's accreditation achievements on the international stage, but also laid the groundwork for progressively guiding all engineering departments across the University toward obtaining the EUR-ACE® label. Feng Chia University will continue to deepen its international partnerships, integrating key areas such as AI, semiconductors, smart manufacturing, and sustainable development to broaden the global career horizons of Taiwan's engineering talent.
