The popularity of pickleball continues to grow rapidly across Taiwan. Supported by the Ministry of Education’s Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Program, the Physical Education Center at Feng Chia University hosted the 2026 Feng Chia University Pickleball Championship from May 23 to 24 in the University Gymnasium. The two-day event attracted pickleball enthusiasts from across Taiwan, drawing nearly 700 participants in total and creating an energetic atmosphere that reflected the sport’s growing appeal and momentum.
A highlight of the opening day was the nation’s first-ever “Heritage and Legacy Division” team competition. The event invited current university students, faculty members, staff, teachers, and alumni to compete side by side, fostering intergenerational collaboration while strengthening institutional identity and team spirit. After intense competition, the team from the University of Taipei claimed the championship title.
Another featured event was the Administrators Division, which showcased university leaders promoting sports participation through personal involvement. Hui-Kuang Yu, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, partnered with Ting-Wen Wang, Director of the Physical Education Center, to compete in the division and ultimately captured the championship title. Their participation demonstrated Feng Chia University’s commitment to cultivating a vibrant campus sports culture and strengthening connections among administrative teams.

On the second day, the Open Division attracted nearly 200 registered teams. Participants represented a wide range of ages and skill levels, from beginners experiencing pickleball for the first time to highly experienced competitors in the advanced division. Competitors ranged from elementary school students to retirees, fully illustrating the sport’s unique combination of competitive play, accessibility, and inclusiveness.
Feng Chia University students, faculty members, and alumni delivered strong performances across multiple divisions, demonstrating the University's long-term commitment to sports development. Student members of the FCU Pickleball Team, who assisted with event operations, received widespread praise from participants for their professionalism in venue management, player services, and tournament coordination. Their contributions also played an important role in promoting pickleball on campus.
The Physical Education Center noted that the University will continue to support the development of pickleball through a variety of innovative tournaments and events. By creating more opportunities for students, faculty, alumni, and members of the public to compete and connect, Feng Chia University aims to further strengthen campus sports culture while fostering a healthy, active, and inclusive athletic environment.
