The Cloud Innovation School of Feng Chia University, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), hosted FCU × University AWSome Day on March 29. Since Feng Chia University joined AWS Academy and AWS Educate in 2019 and became the first AWS Partner Network (APN) Training Partner established by an educational institution in the Greater China region in 2021, the university has organized this large‑scale annual event every year.
The event invited several industry partners—including Chunghwa Telecom, eCloudvalley, iFEST, DIGITIMES, and Rainforest New Retail Co., Ltd.—to share insights on cloud‑industry development trends and talent needs. AWS Campus Ambassadors also introduced activities such as the Generative AI Hackathon and cloud certification study groups. More than 300 students and teachers from 12 colleges, universities, and high schools across central Taiwan joined Feng Chia University participants to explore cloud services together.
During his opening remarks, Vice President Guo‑Hao Tang of Feng Chia University emphasized that AI and cloud computing are among today’s most prominent topics. He noted that the university’s ongoing Smart Campus initiatives rely heavily on these technologies. He highlighted that this event is particularly meaningful because it gathers not only cloud‑related vendors but also many long‑term industry partners. He encouraged students to take advantage of the day to better understand the applications of AI and cloud technologies, global industry trends, and talent requirements—urging everyone to seize this valuable learning opportunity.
Chia‑Nan Hsieh, Deputy General Manager of AWS Taiwan, praised Feng Chia University for its commitment to teaching innovation and cultivating cloud talent, affirming FCU as an important long‑term AWS partner. Guan‑Xiong Liang, Deputy General Manager of Chunghwa Telecom Enterprise Business Group, noted that as a cloud enabler, Chunghwa Telecom worked with Feng Chia University and AWS in 2023 to sign an industry–academia collaboration for “cloud talent development, smart course selection, smart campus initiatives, and campus system cloud adoption.” He added that Chunghwa Telecom will continue supporting FCU in cloud, AI, and ESG transformations, helping build an innovative, sustainable cloud ecosystem that accelerates digital transformation and cloud innovation while strengthening industry development and social sustainability.
University AWSome Day is a training workshop designed to help university faculty and students understand cloud computing. Through step‑by‑step guidance, professional instructors introduce participants to AWS core services and machine‑learning applications—from global cloud‑industry trends to real‑world innovations in AI, speech and facial recognition, gaming, and healthcare. Even students and faculty from non‑STEM fields can learn cloud technologies from scratch. Participants also gain hands‑on experience deploying IT services on AWS and can continue learning through AWS Educate and AWS Academy after the event. Those who complete the full workshop receive a University AWSome Day Training Certificate.
The Cloud Innovation School regularly offers official AWS cloud‑computing courses and training programs. Upcoming activities will include the Generative AI Hackathon and other related events, open to both FCU students and the public.
