The results of the first-stage review for the Ministry of Education Youth Development Administration’s 2026 U-start Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program have been announced. Demonstrating strong interdisciplinary innovation capabilities, Feng Chia University secured funding for four startup teams across the categories of Manufacturing Technology, Cultural and Creative Education, and Social Enterprise.

Led by students, these projects not only showcase advanced technological integration but also address real societal needs, including elderly care, workplace safety, and educational innovation. The selected teams exemplify the commitment of FCU students to creating positive social impact through entrepreneurship.

A total of nine teams from Feng Chia University submitted proposals this year, with four successfully advancing to the first stage. The projects span diverse application areas and demonstrate strong potential for real-world implementation.

MobiEVO (Manufacturing Technology Category)

The MobiEVO team, composed of students from the Department of Automatic Control Engineering and advised by Yu-Cheng Lin, focuses on improving construction vehicle safety.

The team developed an AI Risk Prediction System that integrates multi-camera sensing, short-term trajectory prediction, and Vision-Language Model (VLM) technologies. Through onboard edge computing, the system can analyze hazardous situations at construction sites in real time, enhancing safety management efficiency and demonstrating the innovative application of AI in engineering management.

Joy in Motion (Cultural and Creative Education Category)

The Joy in Motion team brings together students from the Department of Business Administration and the Bachelor's Program of Artificial Intelligence Technology and Application. Guided by Sheng-Nan Tsai of the Center for General Education, the team focuses on the rapidly growing elderly-care market.

Combining AIoT sensing technologies with smart educational tools, the team has developed an assessment system for senior rehabilitation and functional recovery, helping long-term care institutions improve service quality and data-driven management.

The team has previously conducted community service projects in Zhongliao Township, Nantou County, won first place in the National Technical and Vocational Colleges Mobile Commerce Innovation Competition, and received an Excellence Award in Feng Chia University's Virtuosi Innovation Competition.

Curiosity Academy (Social Enterprise Category)

Also advised by Sheng-Nan Tsai, the Curiosity Academy team promotes a STEAM education ecosystem built upon the educational philosophy of“Real-World Contexts × Design Thinking × AI Tools × Presentation and Sharing.”

Through project-based learning and hands-on activities, the team cultivates creativity and problem-solving skills among learners. Team leader Yi-An Pan possesses extensive experience in curriculum design and has successfully participated in the Ministry of Education’s Youth Overseas Dream Fund Program. The team has also introduced educational resources from Hungary’s Maker’s Red Box and continues to promote educational innovation and technology accessibility through a social media platform with over 60,000 followers.

Nurse Pass (Cultural and Creative Education Category)

The Nurse Pass team consists of students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science and is advised by Fang-Jung Hsu.

To address the complexity and high personnel costs associated with clinical nursing training, the team developed an AI Nursing Skills Assessment Platform. Utilizing image recognition and object-tracking technologies, the platform automatically evaluates whether nursing procedures comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provides immediate feedback.

The innovation can help nursing students and newly hired healthcare personnel repeatedly refine clinical skills and holds significant potential for future applications in hospitals and long-term care institutions.

Feng Chia University has long invested in entrepreneurship education through interdisciplinary courses, startup mentoring, innovation competitions, and industry-academia collaboration. These initiatives support students from the ideation stage through market validation, gradually building their entrepreneurial capabilities.

The success of four teams in advancing through the first stage of the U-start program reflects students’ ability to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application and demonstrates the effectiveness of the University's entrepreneurship incubation ecosystem.

Moving forward, Feng Chia University will continue encouraging students to pursue entrepreneurial initiatives, connect with industry and societal needs, and develop the international perspectives and interdisciplinary skills required of future entrepreneurs.

Students interested in entrepreneurship, startup competitions, or the 2027 U-start Program are encouraged to follow announcements and activities from the Business Startup and Development Center for additional resources and mentoring opportunities.
