The Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) officially announced on January 17 that 10 academic programs at Feng Chia University successfully passed the 2025 engineering education accreditation review. These include the Department of Automatic Control Engineering, Department of Communications Engineering, Department of Electronic Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering under the College of Information and Electrical Engineering, as well as the Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Photonics, Master's Program of Electro-acoustics, Bachelor Program in Precision System Design, Master's Program of Green Energy Science and Technology, and Ph.D. Program of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering under the College of Engineering and Science. This achievement highlights Feng Chia University’s excellence in engineering education and provides a strong foundation for cultivating industry professionals with global competitiveness.

The on-site review for the 2025 IEET accreditation was conducted on October 21-22, 2024. The accreditation team was led by Professor Lin Cong-Ming, Vice President of Fo Guang Shan System Universities, as Chief Convener, with Professor Feng Zhan-Hua, Chair Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Chung Cheng University, serving as Co-Convener. Accompanied by 30 accreditation commissioners and 4 international reviewers, the team carried out a rigorous two-day evaluation. Thanks to the thorough preparation of all participating departments and programs, together with the full support of the Center for Teaching Quality Assurance under the Office of Academic Affairs, Feng Chia University’s outstanding teaching quality and educational outcomes received unanimous praise from the review panel.

Feng Chia University has actively participated in IEET accreditation since 2005. IEET adopts an outcomes-based assessment mechanism that focuses on evaluating graduates’ core competencies. This philosophy aligns closely with the University’s long-standing implementation of the CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate) educational framework. Together, these approaches promote the comprehensive development of students’ professional knowledge and practical skills while enhancing graduates’ international employability and mobility.

Notably, since 2003, IEET has signed international accreditation agreements with multiple countries and has recently become a member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE), significantly increasing the international recognition of accredited programs. Among the accredited programs, the Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Communications Engineering, and Department of Automatic Control Engineering were also selected for international observation by EANEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education), further strengthening their global academic standing.

This accreditation cycle carries special significance for Feng Chia University, as it was selected as the only private university in Taiwan to serve as an observation site for ENAEE’s review of the IEET accreditation system. The ENAEE review delegation visited the University on October 21-22, 2024, to observe the accreditation process conducted by the IEET review team. This distinction reflects the strong confidence international educational organizations place in Feng Chia University’s teaching quality. Looking ahead, engineering-related programs accredited by IEET and their graduates will gain academic recognition in more than 20 European countries, creating broader opportunities for international development and enhancing their global competitiveness.
