In his remarks, Vice President Tang noted that in the previous 10th edition of the awards, Feng Chia University was recognized for the design of Virtuosi Hall, as well as the public spaces and outdoor plazas of the Fuxing Campus. This year, the University was once again honored—this time with the first‑place award in the Architectural Space category for the Jing‑Tsai Residence Hall. He emphasized that Feng Chia University’s education philosophy is student‑centered, in which residential life education and aesthetic cultivation are both essential elements. The Jing‑Tsai Residence Hall embodies this philosophy perfectly. The ongoing construction of Virtuosi Hall also continues to reflect this vision. He expressed hope that these efforts will not only benefit FCU’s faculty and students, but also provide Taichung citizens with a high‑quality public environment—contributing together to a more beautiful Taichung skyline.

“Architecture is a vessel for life.” On a university campus, architecture is not only a vessel for living but also a vessel for learning—and for youth itself.

At the outset of designing the Jing‑Tsai Residence Hall, the team recognized that many university dormitories traditionally emphasize only basic accommodation, neglecting living quality, human interaction, and aesthetic development. For this reason, the University sought to create a space that truly feels like home.

Rejecting the conventional approach of maximizing capacity at the cost of cramped, stuffy, and cluttered spaces, the Jing‑Tsai Residence Hall adopts a much more human‑centered design. The result is a residence where students return each day not just to a dormitory, but to a warm and welcoming second home.
