The “30th College and University Information Application Service Innovation Competition,” co-organized by the Administration for Digital Industries, Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Department of Information and Technology Education, Ministry of Education, and the Chinese Society for Information Management, held its finals and award ceremony on November 1 at the Sports Center of National Taiwan University. This year, a record high was set with 151 colleges and universities, 1,964 teams, and 9,781 participants registering for the competition. Facing such scale and intensity, Feng Chia University’s faculty and students delivered outstanding performances, winning a total of 13 awards across categories including Industrial Innovation AI, Industry-Academia Collaboration, Information Application, AUO Smart Field and ESG Application, AI Tools Application, and MATLAB & Simulink UAV Innovation.
Of particular note, two teams from Feng Chia University stood out and were selected to represent Taiwan at the APICTA Awards 2025, known as the “Oscars” of the Asia-Pacific ICT industry, where they will compete with top teams from across the region. The selected national representative projects include:
“QualiVision Smart Inspection System” — Guided by Professor Feng-Cheng Lin from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, this team, composed of students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, Department of Automatic Control Engineering, and the AI Program, developed an AI defect detection technology for plastic injection production lines. The system can instantly identify defects such as burrs, shrinkage, and black spots, effectively improving factory yield and automation efficiency, and won second place in the Industrial Innovation AI category. Professor Feng-Cheng Lin stated, “What students have created is not just a project, but a truly practical solution. Being able to represent Taiwan on the international stage is the best recognition.”
“Gamified Application for Children and Adolescents with ADHD” — Led by Professor Pei-Jung Lin from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, this team of students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science and Department of Automatic Control Engineering designed an application that integrates the SNAP-IV scale for risk assessment, providing a scientifically validated and trackable intervention tool suitable for families, schools, and clinical settings, offering a new option for traditional therapy. The team was recommended to participate due to their excellent performance in the International Exchange category. Professor Pei-Jung Lin encouraged students to keep striving and to showcase Feng Chia University’s strength on the international stage.

Two faculty-student teams from Feng Chia University were selected as members of the Taiwan delegation for the “APICTA Awards 2025.” On October 29, Minister Yi-Ching Lin of the Ministry of Digital Affairs presented the flag to the teams.

Professor Feng-Cheng Lin from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science guided an interdisciplinary team to win second place in the “Industrial Innovation AI Category” at the 30th College and University Information Application Service Innovation Competition. The team will also represent Taiwan at the “APICTA Awards 2025.”
In addition, Feng Chia University’s “PRA-BWS Pedestrian Risk Alert Bus System” won first place in the Industry-Academia Collaboration Category II. The project was jointly supervised by Professor Feng-Cheng Lin from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science and Professor Ben-Yi Liau from the Department of Automatic Control Engineering, in collaboration with Delta Electronics.
This system integrates a pedestrian warning system for buses with depth cameras, GAN prediction, and edge computing to instantly predict pedestrian movements and alert drivers, providing data for traffic decision-making and enhancing urban pedestrian safety. Professor Ben-Yi Liau stated that students combined AI, sensing technology, and practical traffic safety applications, making the results not only a competition entry but also of real value for future smart city transportation applications.
