Feng Chia University Receives Six-Year Accreditation, Earning High Recognition for Institutional Excellence

The Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) announced the results of the third-cycle institutional accreditation for universities in the second half of Academic Year 2025 on July 14. Feng Chia University received the highest accreditation outcome,“Accredited – Valid for Six Years,” reflecting strong recognition of the University's performance in institutional governance and educational quality.

The accreditation evaluated four major areas: Institutional Governance and Management, Faculty Teaching and Academic Expertise, Student Learning and Outcomes, and Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development.

According to the evaluation report, the review committee commended Feng Chia University for its clear vision and strategic direction. Through its 2023–2025 Mid-Term Development Plan, the University has advanced administrative innovation, strengthened student recruitment, promoted teaching innovation and smart learning, enhanced industry engagement, fostered alumni connections, and developed a sustainable campus environment. The committee also recognized the University's evidence-based governance model, including its decision-support dashboard and key issue analytics platform, which provide timely data to support institutional decision-making.

The report further highlighted the establishment of the Feng Chia University–Fraunhofer Innovation Platform (FIP-SPE@FCU) in collaboration with Germany’s Fraunhofer Society. The platform focuses on surface and production engineering technologies for optical and electrical systems and has become one of the University's signature areas of development.

In the area of Faculty Teaching and Academic Expertise, the committee praised Feng Chia University for establishing a comprehensive, stage-based faculty development support system. The system integrates professional development programs, faculty learning communities, mentoring mechanisms, and external training opportunities. Through the University's Faculty Achievement System, teaching, research, and service accomplishments are systematically documented, creating a complete support network from onboarding to professional achievement.

The University was also recognized for implementing salary adjustments comparable to those of public universities, comprehensive retirement planning programs, and various welfare measures designed to attract and retain outstanding faculty members.

In response to growing demand for interdisciplinary talent, Feng Chia University has introduced an innovative academic structure that allows students to design personalized degree pathways through a flexible, modular curriculum model. This approach provides students with greater autonomy in shaping their educational experiences.

For Student Learning and Outcomes, the committee commended the University’s strong recruitment performance. The dedicated Office of Student Recruitment and Admission and its data-driven admission dashboard support annual enrollment exceeding 5,000 students, with stable recruitment results across academic programs.

Feng Chia University has also developed a comprehensive student-support ecosystem extending from pre-enrollment through post-graduation. Prior to enrollment, students can participate in summer preparatory courses to strengthen foundational knowledge. During their studies, learning support is provided through instructional teams and teaching assistants for subjects such as calculus and programming.

The University actively encourages participation in domestic and international competitions, dual-degree programs, and global research exchanges. It also collaborates with leading semiconductor companies including TSMC, Macronix, Ardentec, VIS, and Siliconware Precision Industries to cultivate industry-ready talent. Through exchange and dual-degree agreements with internationally renowned universities, the University has established a “Global Mobility Pathway” to enhance students’ global perspectives and competitiveness.

In the area of Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development, Feng Chia University was recognized for providing dedicated resource centers that support students with diverse needs, including those requiring special education services, Indigenous students, and international students.

The University’s six strategic development initiatives are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These efforts have earned national recognition, including the National Sustainable Development Award (2022), the Taiwan Sustainable Model University Award and Sustainability Report Bronze Award (2023), as well as the Education for Sustainable Development Leadership Award and Environmental Management Leadership Award (2024).

The evaluation also highlighted the University’s“Education for the Common Good” fundraising initiative, which mobilizes alumni and supporters to contribute to campus facilities, education, and academic development. The University currently maintains a debt ratio of zero and a healthy financial structure.

Feng Chia University stated that it will use the accreditation results as a foundation for continuous improvement. The University plans to respond proactively to the committee’s recommendations, optimize human-resource utilization, and further develop Institutional Research (IR)-based mechanisms for evaluating interdisciplinary learning outcomes. Through the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) cycle, the University will continue enhancing institutional quality and sustainable governance.

In the 2026 university admissions placement results, Feng Chia University once again ranked first among all public and private universities in Taiwan, with 2,385 admitted students assigned through the admissions process.
