Feng Chia University Once Again Honored as an “Outstanding Industry-Academia Collaboration Institution” by the Chinese Institute of Engineers

Feng Chia University has been awarded the honor of “Outstanding Industry-Academia Collaboration Institution” at the 113th Annual Joint Conference of the Chinese Institute of Engineers and its affiliated engineering societies. This marks the fifth time the University has received this prestigious recognition, following awards in the 90th, 93rd, 97th, and 110th years. President Wang, Wei personally traveled to Taipei to attend the award ceremony held on June 6 at the Ruei Si Hotel, where he received the commendation from Yang Cheng-Hung, Chairperson of the Chinese Institute of Engineers.

According to the Ministry of Education’s 2023 National University Affairs Statistics, Feng Chia University ranked eighth nationwide in funding for “Industry-Academia Collaboration” projects, exceeding NT$600 million. Among funding from government agencies, the University has remained the top private university in Taiwan for seven consecutive years.

Through strong industry linkages, Feng Chia University cultivates students with both professional skills and practical readiness. One example is the AI transformation of the central Taiwan mechanical cluster. In the “AI Wind-Fire Wheel Project,” Feng Chia University collaborates with the Taiwan AI Academy and Taichung Machine Tool Works to develop a deep-learning model capable of monitoring CNC lathe equipment status, predicting product quality, and detecting tolerance deviations. Another exemplary initiative is the Roso Robotics Construction Lab at Feng Chia University, which integrates AI computing technologies with robotic simulation and control to address labor shortages in the construction industry. Through project-based learning, students apply innovative tools to solve complex real-world industrial challenges, strengthening their connection with industry.

In line with national policy directions and emerging global technology trends, Feng Chia University places strategic focus on three major research domains: Smart Applications, Net-Zero Technologies, and Space Technology. By integrating internal and external research resources, the University has established dedicated research teams, centers, and specialized facilities, creating a diverse and enriching academic environment. Located in the core region of Taiwan’s precision machinery and traditional optics industries, the University is well-positioned to foster industry-academia collaboration and research development, while maintaining close partnerships with both government and industry.
