On May 4, a delegation from Feng Chia University, led by Chairperson Gao, Cheng‑Shu, President Wang, Wei, Vice President Kuo‑Hao Tang, and Vice President Shwu‑Ting Lee, visited the renowned RMIT University in Australia. This marks the first time the University’s Chairperson, President, two Vice Presidents, and senior administrators have traveled together on an official overseas visit—demonstrating Feng Chia University’s strong commitment to RMIT and its determination to advance internationalization. During the trip, the delegation also met alumni in Melbourne as well as Feng Chia students currently studying at RMIT University and Monash University.
The itinerary was full and productive. Shortly after arriving in Melbourne, the delegation held a student forum and dinner gathering with students from RMIT and Monash, attended by 23 participants. RMIT University is Feng Chia University’s first partner institution to establish a 2+2 undergraduate dual‑degree program in Taiwan. The partnership stands as a milestone of Feng Chia’s internationalization efforts and a model of innovative curricular design connecting students with leading global universities. Monash University, meanwhile, collaborates with Feng Chia University on a 2+2 dual‑degree program through the International School, and recently obtained Ministry of Education approval to establish a formal dual‑degree program in Information Engineering. Amid Melbourne’s cool evening weather, the reunion between faculty and students was warm and heartfelt. Students shared their learning experiences, academic support, and aspirations for future internships and employment opportunities in Australia. They expressed gratitude for the University’s support and hoped for more resources and pathways for career development.
On the morning of May 6, the delegation was received by Professor Mathews Nkhoma, Vice President of the College of Business and Law at RMIT University. A formal meeting was held with RMIT leadership, including Professor Ron Wakefield, Interim Deputy Vice‑Chancellor for Global, Dr. Konrad Peszynski, Director of Undergraduate Programs in the College of Business, and Mr. Joseph Dao, Senior Manager for Global Development. Both universities engaged in extensive discussions on advancing higher education collaboration and also exchanged student feedback shared during the previous evening’s gathering. Both parties expressed strong intentions to deepen and expand joint educational programs, laying the groundwork for broader, multi‑level cooperation in the future.
Following the meeting, Mr. Joseph Dao guided the Feng Chia University delegation on a campus tour, offering a closer look at the academic and living environments of students at RMIT University. Located in the heart of Melbourne, RMIT University offers vocational, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs. As a comprehensive public institution and a leading member of the Australian Technology Network, it provides convenient public transportation access and is surrounded by restaurants, cafés, cinemas, galleries, and parks—making it an ideal study destination for students from Taiwan.
