Students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, Feng Chia University, achieved outstanding results at the 54th Central Regional Skills Competition held on March 29, winning a total of six awards. Those who placed in the top three also earned the qualification to compete in the national finals, which will take place in July at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, where they will represent Feng Chia University and take on greater challenges.

Students from the department participated in training programs organized by the university’s Hacker Club and the Cloud Innovation School. Under the guidance of Distinguished Professor Jung-San Lee, Hacker Club member Chen-Yi Lin won second place in the “Web Technologies” category. Yao-Hung Lai placed third in “Information and Network Technology.” Meanwhile, Chiu-Tong Liu, Wei-Jhen Yu, Te-Ming Chang, and Po-Hung Wu achieved third and fifth place in the “Cybersecurity” category.

Additionally, under the guidance of Ju-Chuan Wu, Executive Officer of the Cloud Innovation School, students Yan-Ting Kuo and Ssu-Ya Chen earned second place and an honorable mention in the “Cloud Computing” category. Those who placed in the top three will represent Feng Chia University in the national competition held in July at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center.

Students Ssu-Ya Chen and Yan-Ting Kuo received recognition under the mentorship of Ju-Chuan Wu, Executive Officer of the Cloud Innovation School at Feng Chia University.

Skills competitions place emphasis not only on textbook knowledge but also on practical abilities and hands-on experience. The Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science not only offers relevant courses but also actively promotes education in information security. Upon completing a series of courses, students can earn the Information and Communications Security Program certificate to further expand their competencies.

The department also collaborates with the Hacker Club to provide various learning opportunities through club activities and workshops, encouraging students to participate in competitions to strengthen practical skills and enhance competitiveness. The Cloud Innovation School will likewise continue to offer courses, events, and learning communities related to cloud computing and will soon launch a faculty training program. Faculty and students interested in cloud technologies are welcome to join.
