“A Chip Odyssey” is a documentary focusing on the development of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry. Through historical retrospectives and interviews, it illustrates how Taiwan, despite limited natural advantages, leveraged long-term policy planning, technological accumulation, and talent cultivation to gradually build a globally influential tech industry. The film likens the semiconductor industry to a “mountain-building movement,” emphasizing that progress is not instantaneous but requires generational effort, sustained investment, and risk-taking. Using valuable historical materials and industry footage, the director reveals the struggles, setbacks, and perseverance behind key decisions, highlighting the often-unsung contributions of engineers and researchers. “A Chip Odyssey” is more than an industrial record—it invites viewers to reflect on the deeper connections between technology, education, and society’s future.
