Feng Chia University has once again secured the highest level of funding in the Ministry of Education’s 2024 Institutional Development Program for Private Universities, receiving more than NT$179 million and ranking first nationwide for the second consecutive year. The allocation reflects the overall performance of private universities, with 30 percent determined by institutional scale and the remaining 70 percent based on institutional distinctiveness, administrative effectiveness, and educational outcomes. This achievement demonstrates strong recognition from both the Ministry and the public for Feng Chia University’s advancements in internationalization, AI and 5G development, educational innovation, and sustainable industry engagement.

In the Global Views Monthly – 2023 Taiwan’s Best University Rankings, Feng Chia University ranked third nationwide in internationalization, following National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University. Recently, Feng Chia has significantly strengthened its partnerships with major Australian universities and established an official partnership with the Australian Office. The University has signed cooperation agreements with several top-tier institutions, including RMIT University, Monash University, The University of Queensland, and UNSW Sydney, many of which are among the world’s top 100 universities. These collaborations promote exchange programs and dual-degree pathways such as 2+2 bachelor’s, 1+1 master’s, and 3+1+1 bachelor–master programs.

In early May, Chairperson Gao, Cheng‑Shu and President Wang, Wei of Feng Chia University jointly visited Australia for the first time. At the end of May, delegations from The University of Queensland and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) visited Feng Chia University to exchange insights on technological development in key research areas, including 5G smart applications, net‑zero technologies, and space technology, opening the door to broader collaboration.

Feng Chia University has actively integrated diverse technologies to support AI development in teaching and research. In addition to providing on-campus Nvidia computing infrastructure, the University collaborates with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud to support large-scale AI computing needs. This year, the University will officially launch Microsoft O365 Copilot, powered by OpenAI’s latest technology, to transform both academic and administrative operations and create a fully AI-enabled smart campus. Even students from the Department of Chinese Literature and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature will engage in generative AI applications under faculty guidance through a sequence of required courses that strengthen their abilities in text comprehension and generation.

The outstanding performance of Feng Chia University’s faculty and students in AI research and competitions further demonstrates the results of years of deep investment in AI development. In Taiwan’s first Generative AI Hackathon, jointly organized by DIGITIMES and the National Development Council, Feng Chia University students won first place, showcasing strong capabilities in cloud computing and innovative generative AI applications.

Feng Chia University also places strong emphasis on enabling AI industrial implementation. By integrating AI computing, robotic simulation, and control technologies, the University is advancing smart construction innovation to reshape the future of Taiwan’s construction industry. Feng Chia further collaborates with the Taiwan AI Academy and manufacturers in the Precision Manufacturing Park to promote the smart manufacturing Wind-Fire Wheel Project, exemplifying the University's contributions to industrial digital transformation.

Feng Chia University has long promoted innovative academic structures aiming to make “the entire university your department.” By breaking traditional departmental boundaries and supporting cross‑disciplinary course selection, students are empowered to take ownership of their academic pathways. The University’s intelligent course‑selection system—already launched and continuously enhanced—guides students in pursuing interdisciplinary studies. Feng Chia University aspires for each student to graduate with expertise developed through their chosen major or interdisciplinary specialization.

Upholding the philosophy of “student-centeredness and teaching excellence,” Feng Chia University dedicates all granted funding to advancing teaching innovation, strengthening smart research, and promoting industry collaboration. The University’s active implementation of institutional development plans is a key reason for its continued success in securing increasing levels of awarded funding year after year.
