On April 13, Feng Chia University hosted its annual “Open Festival 2024 — Discover Feng Chia”, welcoming high school students to explore the campus and envision their future university life. The event featured keynote talks, college spotlight sessions, and campus exploration activities, attracting more than 2,700 students and parents, with total session attendance exceeding 4,000 participants. Visitors spent their weekend learning about the University’s academic resources and student life.

The event was jointly organized by the nine colleges that admit undergraduate students, including the College of Engineering, College of Information and Electrical Engineering, College of Business, College of Finance, College of Construction and Development, School of Architecture, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, International School, and College of Innovation. Each college presented its unique academic strengths through program introductions, facility tours, senior student sharing sessions, and student project exhibitions. Many sessions were fully booked, with several high school students attending both morning and afternoon sessions to learn as much as possible about Feng Chia University.

During the keynote address, President Wang, Wei encouraged students to reflect deeply on the meaning of attending university. She emphasized that the four years of university life represent a formative and transformative stage—from adolescence to maturity—during which students build their values and future direction. She urged them to consider why they want to enter university, what they aim to accomplish, and what challenges they may face in employment, technology, or global issues. President Wang reminded students, “No matter which university you choose, remember that this will be a pivotal stage in your life. Make the most of your university years to prepare yourself, define yourself, and embrace the limitless possibilities ahead.”

Following the keynote, Bing-Lin Liu, Director of the Office of Admissions, introduced the University’s academic resources, including Feng Chia University’s innovative academic pathways such as the flexible “A-to-B” and “A+B” study models, which break traditional academic boundaries and encourage interdisciplinary learning. He also highlighted international opportunities such as study‑abroad programs, student exchanges, overseas internships, and global competitions, encouraging students to take bold steps into the world. Director Liu also reminded prospective applicants to review each department’s document review and interview guidelines on the admissions website and pay attention to key application dates to successfully pursue their desired programs.

This year’s event also featured a “Campus Exploration” point‑collection activity. Ten signature locations across the campus were selected for guided exploration. Students and parents followed the event map to each location and entered the correct keywords into the event’s LINE@ system to earn points. Collecting five points allowed participants to redeem special gifts.

Feedback collected through the post‑event survey was overwhelmingly positive. Many students and parents praised the clarity of faculty and senior student presentations, which helped them better understand academic fields and related industries. Others expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality and thoughtful event organization, noting that “Feng Chia University’s sincere effort could truly be felt.” Overall, the event received strong affirmation and enthusiastic support from participants.
