Exploring Careers Through Sustainability and AI: FCU Department of Business Administration Hosts SDGs Career Board Game Workshop

2026.05.27

Career exploration can take many forms in an era shaped by sustainability and artificial intelligence. On May 12, the Department of Business Administration at Feng Chia University hosted an innovative SDGs Career Board Game Workshop, encouraging students to move beyond traditional career-planning approaches and explore the connections among personal strengths, industry needs, and future societal development through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The workshop was organized by Professor Wen-Chun Tsai and incorporated the Ministry of Education Youth Development Administration's career guidance initiative, AI-Integrated CDIO Career Innovation Model. The event featured SDGs board game facilitator Feng-Wei Cheng, who delivered a session titled“Exploring Society’s Future Through the 2030 SDGs Game: Trends in Sustainable Development.”

Through an immersive learning experience, students gained a deeper understanding of the interdependent relationships among economic growth, environmental sustainability, and social development.

During the workshop, Cheng incorporated case studies on corporate sustainability and ESG practices, introducing examples from industries such as plant-based foods, green energy enterprises, and international ESG assessment frameworks. These examples helped participants recognize that sustainability is no longer simply a matter of corporate responsibility but is increasingly becoming a core competency in the future workplace.

In addition to lectures and case discussions, students participated in board game activities, role-playing exercises, decision-making simulations, and card-based challenges. Through these interactive experiences, they explored how different development strategies can influence society and the environment. The lively discussions encouraged participants to reflect on both their future career directions and their broader social responsibilities.

Professor Tsai noted that modern career education extends far beyond traditional résumé writing and interview preparation. Instead, students must develop a deeper understanding of industry trends, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and cultivate interdisciplinary perspectives.

For this reason, the project combines the CDIO (Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate) framework with AI-enabled learning tools. By integrating experiential learning and scenario-based simulations, the workshop aims to enhance students’ awareness of sustainability issues while strengthening their career-planning capabilities. At the same time, it helps prepare students with the interdisciplinary competencies needed to navigate both the AI era and the global transition toward sustainability.

Looking ahead, the Department of Business Administration will continue to promote innovative educational activities that integrate artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and career exploration. Through interdisciplinary learning opportunities, the department seeks to cultivate a new generation of talent equipped with social responsibility, global perspectives, and sustainability literacy.
