Over 100 Teams Compete, Top 50 Advance to the Final! 2026 Feng Chia University Virtuous Innovation Competition Showcases Outstanding Innovation

The final round of the 2026 Feng Chia University Virtuous Innovation Competition was held on May 22. This year's competition reached a new milestone, attracting 148 teams, nearly 600 students, and more than 80 faculty advisors, demonstrating Feng Chia University's strong interdisciplinary innovation and hands-on capabilities. Following a highly competitive preliminary round, 50 teams advanced to the finals to present their projects, while 33 additional teams received the Potential Award. The event was widely praised by representatives from industry, government, academia, and research sectors.

Bing-Jean Lee, Distinguished Chair Professor of the Office of Technology Development, noted that Feng Chia University has long adopted the internationally recognized CDIO educational model. The Virtuous Innovation Competition serves as an ideal platform for students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and practical implementation, students not only strengthen their professional competencies but also embody the spirit of social responsibility through innovation for the common good.

The competition invited more than 20 experts from industry, government, academia, and research institutes to serve as judges, who highly commended the participants' creativity and interdisciplinary integration abilities. Distinguished guests attending the event included Cheng-Shu Kao, Chairperson of Feng Chia University; Shwu-Ting Lee, Vice President; Taichung City Government Digital Development Bureau Director Gu-Long Lin; FCU Alumni Association President Ming-He Lee; Housheng Group President Cheng-Kuan Hsu; FCU Technology Alumni Association Vice President Wen-Chao Shih; and C SUN Industrial COO Wen-Chin Tseng. They visited exhibition booths, listened to student presentations, and offered professional feedback.

Fifty teams advanced to the finals and showcased their innovative projects on site, earning high praise from the judges.

To further encourage student innovation, Chairperson Cheng-Shu Kao announced during the award ceremony an additional NT$10,000 prize for each award-winning finalist team, prompting enthusiastic applause from the audience. In addition, FCU Alumni Association President Ming-He Lee pledged an extra NT$10,000 award for each of the four Gold Award-winning teams, demonstrating strong alumni support for both the University and future generations.

Industry partners and alumni also sponsored three special awards: the C SUN Excellence Award, the Alumni Elite Award sponsored by Housheng Group President Cheng-Kuan Hsu, and the Cross-domain Robot Innovation Application Award under the Smart Manufacturing Talent Development Program. These awards aim to encourage students to align smart technology and innovative design with real societal needs.

The event was jointly organized by the Office of Technology Development, Office of Industry Collaboration and Extension, Office of Sustainability, and Center for General Education. In collaboration with the Office of Research and Development, the University also promoted a faculty interdisciplinary matching mechanism to foster future teaching and industry-academia collaborations.

The Virtuous Innovation Competition has become one of Feng Chia University's signature innovation events, highlighting the University's long-standing achievements in innovation, interdisciplinary education, and sustainability. Going forward, Feng Chia University will continue integrating resources from industry, alumni, and society to build an even more influential innovation platform and cultivate talent capable of driving industrial transformation and sustainable development.

Tsung-Yi Chen from the Department of Electronic Engineering and Yee-Siang Gan from the School of Architecture led a student team (Guan-Ching Tseng, Chia-Ying Yang, Heng-Chia Chen, and Kai-Hsun Chiu) to receive the Excellence Gold Award in the Smart Technology Category.

Bo-Sheng Liu from the School of Architecture and Chyi-How Lay from the Center for General Education jointly advised a student team (Wen-Chi Huang, Pin-Hsien Fan, Bo-Ting Lin, Ting-Yu Chung, Shih-Tang Lin, and Tai-Jun Wu), which won the Excellence Gold Award in the Humanities and Sustainability Category.

Wei-Lun Lin from the Department of Communications Engineering led a student team (En-Tzu Yeh, Chia-Chun Hsu, Pei-Tsen Wu, Shih-Ling Wu, and Yu-Ju Hsiao) to receive the Excellence Gold Award in the Humanities and Sustainability Category.
