Feng Chia University Sports Day Showcases Outstanding Performances and Multiple Double Champions

The 2025–2026 Feng Chia University Sports Day was held on March 28 at the university track and field stadium. This year's event not only continued the University's long-standing traditions but also highlighted multiculturalism, athletic excellence, and strong school spirit. From the creative opening parade and bilingual athlete oath to the emergence of several double champions and the fiercely contested tug-of-war finals, faculty members and students came together to create a memorable celebration of sportsmanship.

The Parade Spirit Award, a long-standing highlight of the opening ceremony, once again showcased the creativity and unity of participating units. In the administrative and academic division category, the Office of Student Affairs claimed first place, followed by the Office of Information Technology in second and the School of Architecture in third.

In the academic department category, the International Foundation Program took the championship, while the Department of Marketing and the General Program, School of Architecture earned second and third place, respectively.

The Office of Student Affairs won first place in the Administrative and Academic Division category of the Parade Spirit Award.

Another highlight of this year’s opening ceremony was the athlete oath delivered by Eri Yasuda, a student from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. As captain of the women's volleyball team that led Feng Chia University to consecutive national collegiate volleyball championships, she recited the oath fluently in both Chinese and Japanese, bringing an international and inclusive spirit to the ceremony.

The track events produced several outstanding double champions.

Jen-Chien Yang from the Continuing Education Bachelor's Program of Business dominated the men's sprint events, capturing gold in both the 100-meter race (11.94 seconds) and the 200-meter race (24.93 seconds).

Hsin-Yen Lee of the Bachelor's Program of Financial Engineering and Actuarial Science won both the men's 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter races, demonstrating exceptional endurance and distance-running ability.

Meanwhile, Chia-Ying Fu from the Department of Fiber and Composite Materials secured two gold medals in the women's long jump and 100-meter sprint.

Faculty competitions also featured remarkable performances. In the 2,000-meter race, Chih-Yi Tseng of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences recorded an impressive time of 8:00.46 in the Men's 50-and-Over Division. His result was even faster than the winning time of 8:25.16 recorded by Chuan-Sheng Wei from the Department of Applied Mathematics in the Men's Under-50 Division, proving that experience remains a formidable advantage.

A signature tradition at Feng Chia University, the 20-Person Tug-of-War Championship, returned as one of the event's most anticipated attractions. After 37 preliminary matches beginning on March 23, the finals took place following the opening ceremony. The men's and women's divisions were won by the Department of Transportation and Logistics and the Department of Urban Planning and Spatial Information, respectively.

The most exciting contest of the day was the mixed-gender championship match between the School of Architecture and the Department of Transportation and Logistics. Energized by enthusiastic support from faculty members—who even added bonus cash incentives from the sidelines—the School of Architecture ultimately emerged victorious and lifted the championship trophy.

Whether on the track field or at the tug-of-war rope, participants demonstrated the perseverance, teamwork, and athletic spirit that define the Feng Chia community.

Faculty members and students came together through athletic competition and sportsmanship to bring the 2026 Feng Chia University Sports Day to a successful conclusion.
