Central Taiwan Blood Supply Running Low: FCU Community Donates 321 Units in Four Days to Support Medical Care

Blood reserves in central Taiwan have recently fallen to critically low levels, with Type O blood facing a particularly severe shortage. In response to this urgent need, the Feng Chia University Student Association organized the semester’s first blood donation campaign from March 30 to April 2, calling on faculty members and students to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.

During the four-day campaign, 270 students visited the blood donation vehicles and contributed a total of 321 units of blood, delivering both hope and practical support to frontline medical services.

Feng Chia University has long integrated blood donation into campus life as part of its commitment to public service. This year, the University was recognized by the Ministry of Education as an Outstanding Blood Donation School, an honor shared by every member of the FCU community who has participated in blood donation efforts.

Throughout the event, President Wei Wang, Dean of Student Affairs Hui-Kuang Yu, and Chun-Mei Chao, Section Chief of the Taichung Blood Center, personally visited the donation site to encourage students waiting to donate. The campaign also received support from the Jen-Mei Lions Club, demonstrating the positive impact of collaboration between the university and local community organizations.

This year's blood donation campaign also aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, emphasizing that every donation contributes not only to saving lives but also to advancing a healthier and more sustainable society.

To thank participants for their generosity, the Taichung Blood Center provided convenience-store gift cards and a variety of exclusive campus-themed gifts. These tokens of appreciation allowed students to feel the warmth of community support while contributing to an important social cause.

Feng Chia University will continue working through the Student Association and campus organizations to promote meaningful public-service initiatives. The University hopes that this spirit of mutual support and willingness to contribute to society will continue to flourish on campus, inspiring every FCU member to become a force for kindness and positive change in both daily life and the broader community.
