2025.12.08

The 2025 International Cultural Festival at Feng Chia University unfolded grandly along Rongrong Boulevard on December 3–4 under the theme “Harvest the World.” The event attracted more than ten thousand students, faculty members, and community visitors, who enthusiastically engaged with international students from over 40 countries and regions—turning the campus into a lively “miniature world” of cross‑cultural celebration. This year’s festival centered on two major themes: the International Market and the Global Festival Exhibition. From food tasting and cultural showcases to hands‑on activities, participants enjoyed a one‑stop multicultural experience right on campus. The International Market featured 22 booths, 16 of which were created and run by international students. The market offered Vietnamese spring rolls and traditional attire, Indonesian noodles, Indian spices, Malaysian specialty drinks, Italian tarot readings, Japanese snacks, Mexican tacos, and cultural games representing 12 countries. Aromas filled the air, and long queues formed at nearly every booth, making the market the most popular area throughout the festival.

More than ten thousand students, faculty members, and community visitors joined the 2025 International Cultural Festival, engaging warmly with FCU’s international students from over 40 countries and regions.

The Global Festival Exhibition highlighted cultural celebrations from 12 countries, including Malaysia’s Hari Raya, Vietnam’s Hùng Kings’ Festival, Japan’s Hanabi Festival, Korea’s Chuseok, Taiwan’s Mazu Pilgrimage, Mexico’s Día de los Muertos, and Brazil’s Rio Carnival. A photo‑taking activity and international snack exchange were offered alongside the exhibits. During the two‑day event, 1,379 participants joined the photo challenge and redeemed classic treats such as Japanese Golden Candy, Korean Yakgwa, Vietnamese mung‑bean cakes, and Malaysia’s Apollo cakes—learning cultural stories and traditions while enjoying a relaxed exhibition experience.

A newly added lucky draw generated excitement across social media, with the grand prize—round‑trip tickets to Okinawa—drawing enormous anticipation. The winner laughed and said, “I was running a booth at the market when they called my name. I never expected to win! I was still in shock when I went on stage, but I really enjoyed the whole event!” The event also introduced photo stickers for the first time, becoming a campus favorite as students lined up to take limited‑edition festival photos with their friends.

During the opening ceremony, President Vey Wang stated, “Feng Chia University is committed to fostering an international‑friendly campus environment where students can experience world cultures without leaving campus. The International Cultural Festival is not just an event—it symbolizes understanding, respect, and cross‑cultural exchange. We hope students will broaden their global perspectives through participation.”

Many students said the festival felt like “bringing the world onto campus.” They enjoyed authentic flavors from different countries and had the opportunity to talk directly with international peers—learning stories and cultures in a refreshing and meaningful way. The Office of International Affairs noted that this year’s festival successfully enhanced interaction between international and local students, demonstrating FCU’s ongoing progress in internationalization. Moving forward, the university will continue strengthening partnerships with overseas institutions, expanding student exchanges, summer abroad programs, and cross‑border research projects to achieve its goal: enabling 25% of Feng Chia students to gain international engagement experience.
