The UQ Global Connect-Taiwan, established in collaboration between The University of Queensland and Feng Chia University, is UQ's first campus presence in Taiwan.

"This is not just a collaboration base, but a visionary platform for the future," said Brett Lovegrove, Vice-President of The University of Queensland, in his speech. He expressed his admiration for Feng Chia University's efforts in internationalization and noted that Feng Chia's keen observation and forward-looking vision in cross-disciplinary integration align perfectly with UQ's global interdisciplinary collaboration philosophy.

Lovegrove mentioned that The University of Queensland is one of Australia's largest and most comprehensive higher education institutions, encompassing faculties such as law, economics, and medicine. These resources will be further linked with Feng Chia's faculty and students through the UQ Global Connect-Taiwan platform. He also emotionally recalled growing up in Brisbane and participating in the preparation for the Tokyo Olympics, and now looks forward to welcoming students and scholars from Feng Chia at the Brisbane Olympics in 2032. Notably, UQ's annual highlight event "UQ Info Day 2025" will feature two in-person sessions in Taiwan, held at Feng Chia University in Taichung and W Hotel in Taipei. The Taichung session, held at Feng Chia University, symbolizes the deep partnership and ongoing cooperation between the two institutions.

The event attracted nearly 200 students and parents from central Taiwan interested in studying in Australia. In addition to Vice-President Brett Lovegrove, the event featured Professor Andrew Griffiths, Executive Dean of UQ's College of Business, College of Economics, and College of Law, Mr. Michael Chen, Regional Manager for Greater China, and representatives from the Australian Office and faculty team, who personally shared UQ's advantages in academic research, international exchange, and learning opportunities. In his speech, Professor Andrew Griffiths mentioned that besides directly applying to study at UQ, the bachelor's and master's programs jointly offered by UQ and Feng Chia University are also excellent options. To date, 63 Feng Chia students have studied at UQ, with 24 successfully graduating.

Holding the UQ Info Day 2025 at Feng Chia University symbolizes The University of Queensland's high recognition of Feng Chia University's internationalization and academic cooperation, showcasing the deepening relationship between the two institutions.

In recent years, Feng Chia University has actively expanded international cooperation. Since 2014, Feng Chia University has been the first in Taiwan to establish the International School of Technology and Management, engaging in substantial exchanges with many of the world's top 100 universities. With the assistance of the Australian Office, Feng Chia has collaborated with top 50 global universities, including The University of Queensland, Monash University, and UNSW Sydney, to offer dual bachelor's degree programs in electrical engineering, information engineering, and design. In 2024, the cooperation with The University of Queensland further expanded to the graduate level, with dual master's degree programs signed with the College of Finance and the College of Business, and future plans to include the College of Information and Electrical Engineering, continuously expanding international learning opportunities and study options for students.

Through the "UQ Global Connect-Taiwan" collaboration base, the two universities plan to engage in closer cooperation in dual degree programs, teaching exchanges, and research collaborations, jointly cultivating internationally competitive talents and creating a new model for Taiwan-Australia higher education cooperation.
