2024.11.08

The Ministry of Education announced today (8th) the selection results of the "Bilingual Learning Plan for College Students" benchmark program. Feng Chia University, with its outstanding achievements in promoting bilingual education in recent years, has been awarded the "Field Benchmark Program," becoming the only comprehensive private university in central Taiwan to be selected.
Since the Ministry of Education launched the bilingual learning plan, Feng Chia University has actively advanced from initially focusing on one key cultivation college (International School of Technology and Management) to expanding to three key cultivation colleges (International School of Technology and Management, College of Business, and School of Architecture). This year, being selected for the "Field Benchmark Program" fully demonstrates Feng Chia University's dedication and growth in bilingual learning.

On September 27, Feng Chia University hosted the "Taiwan-Australia Academic Exchange," with faculty from the Australian Office and renowned Australian universities such as the University of Queensland, Monash University, University of New South Wales, Queensland University of Technology, University of South Australia, and University of Adelaide gathering at Feng Chia.
Since its establishment in 2014, the International School of Technology and Management has collaborated with many internationally renowned universities to jointly plan courses, all of which are EMI courses, ensuring that students can seamlessly transition to overseas studies after two years. Each year, the school offers a series of English courses, including English speech, English writing, and critical thinking, making these courses mandatory for all students. The College of Business offers comprehensive English courses, attracting international students, with over 430 international students enrolled. More than a quarter of the faculty have completed teacher training courses in collaboration with the University of Adelaide, and the school has established the EMI Teacher Growth Community and the Feng Chia Chapter of the International English Speech Association, promoting professional growth for teachers and enhancing students' English proficiency. The School of Architecture hosts an international forum every year, with this year's theme being "Sustainable, Healthy, and Low-Carbon Indoor Environment Practices," inviting scholars and experts from Kindai University, Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Delft University of Technology, attracting many faculty and students from different colleges to attend. The school also continues to promote off-site teaching, overseas internships, and international workshops, helping students expand their international perspectives and enhance their global competitiveness.

Since 2017, Feng Chia University has encouraged and funded students to participate in the European Innovation Academy competition every year. This year, 18 students were selected to participate, forming teams with over 400 participants from dozens of countries worldwide for intense competition.

More than 30 students from the School of Architecture at Feng Chia University participated in the "AA Visiting School Taiwan 2024" workshop, co-hosted by the School of Architecture at Feng Chia University and the Architectural Association (AA), exploring the history of urban development on Taiwan's east coast.

Supported by the Australian government's New Colombo Plan, a group of 18 faculty and students from the University of Queensland's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department visited Feng Chia University from June 28 to July 2, hosted by the faculty and students of the International School of Technology and Management.
President Vey Wang stated, "My goal is to ensure that 25% of all students have international participation experience. The school not only provides opportunities but also pushes students to actively participate through study abroad, internships, competitions, and international workshops at home and abroad, offering students comprehensive international experiences. This is the most important educational significance and value of Feng Chia's promotion of bilingualism and internationalization."
The Ministry of Education's bilingual plan is the first systematic approach in the country, combining resource injection, teacher support, and student guidance to cultivate professional international communication talents. Feng Chia University's outstanding performance in promoting bilingual education has not only improved students' English proficiency but also created an international teaching environment. In the future, Feng Chia University will continue to deepen bilingual education, cultivating more international talents for Taiwan to connect with the world.
